From the maker of the phenomenal Going Home To Roost handmade blog comes this fantastic Go Green (literally) wool felt cushion. 20″ x 20 and available on Etsy.
Next time you’re chasing that ideal wedding gift, when a knife block just won’t cut it and a toaster would leave you feeling cheap and unimaginative (no offense to toasters – toast is my favourite food), when you want to give something that will be remembered, and appreciated, look no further than Idotakeu’s felt Mr & Mrs pillows. They’re super cute and great fun. Buy or request your own custom design or font at Etsy.
Designed by Chris Ferebee and Laurice Parkin this felt bench is so simple, and yet so brilliant. It’s featured previously in Fashioning Felt in NYC, and is at the upcoming 2010 Fashioning Felt Exhibition in the San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design in October 2010. Made from die-cut industrial wool felt. Email for info or sales.
Adore these oversized floor ‘stone’ cusions from South African textile designer Ronel Jordaan. Jordaan has set up a women’s workshop in Gauteng-Johannesburg-where her personally trained artisans transform interlocking fibers, made from 100% merino wool, into these freeform oversized “stone” floor cushions. Apparently they’re really comfortable too. We want. If you would like to buy us one (or two) you can do so here.
Omri Barzeev’s laser-cut felt seat is rather nice, and clever in its design. The felt is looped around and clamped into the wooden base by plastic fixings. Comes in lots of awesome colours too. We here at B&M are noticing a very exciting trend of innovation in the furniture design world using felt. We like. View here.
Graduate designer Charlotte Kingsnorth has designed Felt Up, a chair made from a single sheet of folded felt. The chair is made of 16mm thick industrial felt on a steel frame.
Prominant eco-designer Ryan Frank‘s stackable Isoballa stool is gaining plenty of attention internationally. A sustainable, formaldehyde-free strawboard core is covered in a wool felt outer case. Stunning, simple and stackable. Ryan Frank. Buy here.
Legends Studio Dror have designed these rather beautiful sitting chairs. Manufactured by Cappellini they consist only of a very minimal metal frame and three pieces of cleverly cut felt. The result is no seams and no sewing required. More pictures at Studio Dror.
This ottoman has a beautiful understated class about it. Individual pieces of high quality German felt are sewn together to form the sophisticated herringbone pattern. The natural oil content of wool makes the felt stain and water resistant, perfect for furniture! Would co-exist with a tan Eames in a sitting room very finely indeed. Order from LA based Graf & Lantz here. Pillow in the same pattern also available, perfect for scattering on a loved Moran rollback.
